General Information

What is the Kenya Electronic Travel Authorization (eTA)?

The Kenya eTA is a semi-automated electronic authorization that determines the eligibility of visitors to travel to Kenya. An approved eTA is mandatory for all non-citizens intending to enter the Republic of Kenya. It is electronically linked to your passport and replaces the previous visa-on-arrival system.

How long is the eTA valid for?

The eTA is typically valid for a single entry within 90 days of issuance. Once you enter Kenya, your permitted stay duration is determined by the immigration officer at the port of entry, usually up to 90 days for tourism purposes.

Is this an official Government of Kenya portal?

Kenya ETA is a private premium concierge facilitation service. We are not affiliated with the Government of Kenya. We assist travelers by reviewing applications, correcting errors, and submitting on your behalf through official channels.

Eligibility & Requirements

Do children need their own eTA?

Yes. Every traveller, including infants and children, must have their own individual eTA. There is no family or group eTA. Each person travelling to Kenya needs a separate application linked to their own passport.

What passport validity is required?

Your passport must be valid for at least 6 months from your intended date of entry into Kenya. It should also have at least 2 blank pages available for immigration stamps at the port of entry.

Application Process

How long does eTA processing take?

Standard processing takes up to 72 hours (3 business days). Our Premium Fast-Track service can expedite this to as little as 24 hours. We recommend applying at least 5 days before your travel date.

What happens after I submit my application?

After submission and payment, our team reviews your documents for accuracy. You'll receive real-time email updates at each stage. Once approved, your eTA document is emailed to you as a PDF.

Can I edit my application after submission?

Minor corrections may be possible before processing begins. Please contact our concierge team immediately at support@eta.go.ke if you notice an error.

Status Tracking

Check your application progress

Enter your reference number and email address to see the real-time status of your Kenya eTA application at any time.

Where do I find my application reference number?

Your reference number (format: KE-ETA-YYYY-XXXXX) is sent to your email immediately after payment is confirmed. It also appears on your payment receipt.

I haven't received my approval email. What should I do?

First, check your spam or junk mail folder. If the email is not there, log in to our tracking portal with your reference number and email. If 72 hours have passed and there is still no update, contact our 24/7 concierge support.

Is the payment secure?

Absolutely. We use bank-level 256-bit SSL encryption for all transactions, and we are PCI DSS compliant. Your financial data is never stored on our servers after the transaction is completed.

Entry & Exit

Do I need to print my eTA or can I show it digitally?

Your eTA is electronically linked to your passport. However, we strongly recommend printing a physical copy or having the PDF readily accessible on your device to show to immigration officers.

Are there any vaccination requirements to enter Kenya?

A Yellow Fever vaccination certificate is required if you are travelling from a country with risk of Yellow Fever transmission. We recommend checking current health advisories before departure.

Can I enter Kenya by land or sea with an eTA?

Yes. The Kenya eTA is valid for entry by air, land, and sea at all official ports of entry, including border crossings from Tanzania, Uganda, Ethiopia, and South Sudan.

Refunds & Reapplications

What happens if my eTA is rejected?

In the event of a rejection, you will be notified by email with the reason provided. Our concierge team will contact you to discuss the next steps. Government processing fees are generally non-refundable.

Are fees refundable if I cancel my trip?

Processing fees are non-refundable once payment has been made. We strongly recommend purchasing travel insurance that covers trip cancellations.

My eTA expired before I could travel. Can I use it?

No. An expired eTA is not valid for entry into Kenya. If your eTA has expired (typically after 90 days of issuance), you must submit a new application.
